Volunteer Opportunities
The Bucks County Historical Society appreciates the time and talents of volunteers who serve the organization in many ways. Without volunteers, the Historical Society would not be able to maintain the quality and scope of programs and operations that allow it to serve an evergrowing and diverse audience. Volunteer positions are available at the Mercer Museum, Spruance Library and Fonthill Museum. Training and support are provided. Hours and days are flexible. Volunteers enjoy the benefits of enrichment presentations, shop discounts, free admission to all sites, recognition and new friendships. For information contact the volunteer coordinator at

| Family Programs |
| Help with family programs such as Mercer Museum Tool Day, Doll's Day Out, sleepovers, arts and crafts projects, and Fonthill's family programs. Hours vary from month to month. |

Conduct adult and/or children tours as scheduled. Guides develop own thematic tour of the house based on the tour manual. Training required. Flexible schedule. |

Assist with projects from program preparation to conducting research. Days and hours flexible. |

Helps with repair and maintenance of Fonthill, especially the windows. Weekdays. |

Orient visitors, answer questions and hand out printed materials on weekend afternoons.
Mercer Apprentice Program
High school students can discover the Mercer and Fonthill Museums through the Mercer Apprentice Program (MAP). Members of MAP volunteer at least 5 hours a month assisting family and youth programs, participating in service activities, and training for future events. This volunteer organization aims to develop leadership and confidence among its members and offers a wonderful opportunity to prepare for college and work environments. Development Special Events
Duties are many and varied depending on the fundraising event - soliciting door prizes and gifts, recruiting local business participation in projects, decorating for special events, attending functions and assisting guests.
Outreach & Membership
Staff BCHS membership booths at museum functions, local conferences, community events and business fairs. Must be able to answer questions about the BCHS, promote programs and membership.
Children's Interpreter (Mercer Museum)
Present hour-long school programs during the school year in the morning Monday through Friday. Script and training provided. Volunteers may choose their days to work, either once a month, bi-weekly or weekly.
Speakers Bureau
Present programs to community groups using provided script and slides. Occasional day or evening. |
